API Forged Socket-Weld Gate Valve

This API forged socket-weld gate valve is intended for shut-off applications in industrial piping systems. The forged construction ensures a compact structure and reliable mechanical performance under demanding conditions. Socket weld ends provide a secure and integrated connection to the pipeline, minimizing potential leakage at joints. The gate design allows a straight-through flow path when fully open, reducing flow resistance and making it suitable for oil, chemical, and industrial service lines.

Structural Characteristics of

  • The body is die-forged from a single block of A105N steel, eliminating the shrinkage and porosity inherent in casting. This dense grain structure ensures rock-solid stability under Class 800 (approx. 13.8MPa) pressure, making it a high-safety isolation tool for high-pressure hydraulic systems and crude oil gathering networks.

  • The Outside Screw and Yoke (OS&Y) design positions the lifting threads outside the flow path. This ensures that even when handling abrasive or slightly scaling heavy oils and industrial wastewater, the stem threads remain unexposed to the media, preventing seizure and extending the mechanical life of the actuator.

  • The Socket Weld connection creates a rigid, unified structure with the pipeline. In vibration-heavy environments like air compressor stations or reciprocating pump discharge lines, this joint is more stable than threads and more compact than flanges, achieving permanent, zero-seepage containment for flammable gases or costly chemical agents.

  • The wedge and seat surfaces are typically hardened or overlaid with hard alloy. This allows the valve to maintain its sealing integrity when handling high-pressure saturated steam up to 425°C or residue oils containing solid particulates, effectively resisting erosion and galling.

  • Featuring a backseat function paired with flexible graphite packing. When the valve is fully open, the backseat isolates media pressure, allowing for emergency packing maintenance during continuous chemical plant production, minimizing unplanned downtime for repairs.
